The mold manufacturing process is a complex process, from the design, processing, assembly, debugging and other steps, finally can be really put into use, in the whole life cycle, the factors affecting the quality of the mold mainly have the following ten aspects:
1. Tool steel;
Steel is the decisive factor of mold quality,the choice of reasonable steel is the most important.
The standard for choosing steel is:
① Requirements for injection molding materials:Different plastics need different types of steel,such as high polishing requirements, corrosion resistance requirements and so on.
② Price:Considering the cost of the tool, the tool steel should be selected conforming to the life of the tool material so as to avoid unnecessary waste and also selected according to the situation.
③ Heat treating:The surface treatment of the mold is also very important. Nitriding can enhance the surface hardness of steel and effectively extend the life of tool.Mold plating can effectively modify the steel. For some plastic parts that need high brightness and corrosion resistance, plating can be used to enhance and improve the properties of the steel.
2. Structural design :
The mature mold structure not only takes into account the shrinkage rate of product material properties, forming temperature, elastic tensile deformation coefficient, etc., but also takes into account the reasonable mold structure, such as the cooling water and mold opening and closing speed, which can effectively extend the life of the mold and ensure the smooth production of the mold to improve efficiency and reduce cost.
3. Mold processing :
A workman must first sharpen his tools if he is to do his work well.The arrangement of the mold process is particularly important, reasonable process arrangement can speed up the production cycle, shorten the processing time, effectively save costs, and more importantly, accurate and reasonable processing can ensure the mold in the production process of stability and prolong the life.
4. Standard parts :
Although standard parts do not directly participate in the molding, but control the entire mold operation of good standard parts should be able to wear, hard enough, high precision, not be deformed.
5. Mold fitting :
Mold fitting seems simple but most important and technically demanding,like auto parts mold,it’s complex,not only parting line is irregular, but also include a number of sliders and ejectors. 7. Mold assembly :
Mold assembly is like assembling a machine, every part, every screw can not be wrong, otherwise the consequences will be quite serious, at least lead to product defects and affect production, or completely damage the mold, resulting in scrap. In the assembly process, especially pay attention to the mold cleaning, especially the water line and screw hole.
8. Hot runner or cold runner:

And the main problem of cold runner is how to ensure the balance of injection ,gate size ,injection pressure and so on.
9. Cooling water:
Cooling water comes a potential cost. Inadequate cooling of components increases cycle time, waste, and size problems. Therefore, good cooling water layout design is particularly important, including water line arrangement density and diameter of the link between each other and so on.
10. Mold maintenance:
There are two aspects to mold maintenance:
One is in the production process of maintenance,mainly are cleaning, lubrication and inspection.
Another is according to the technical status and complexity of the mold ,it makes regular system maintenance of the mold.
